Manuka is one of the three tea trees native to New Zealand and Australia and has long been valued for its healing properties by the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand.
The properties of Manuka are much like that of Tea Tree, although reportedly more potent (studies suggest twenty times the potency of the Australian tea tree). Wild manuka leaves and branches are hand harvested from the large shrubs that grow naturally in the East Cape of New Zealand. These leaves and branches are then steam distilled to produce valuable Manuka essential oil.
