The Macadamia nut tree is indigenous to north-eastern Australia, where it grows in tropical rainforests and close to stream banks. It was introduced to Hawaii in the late 1800's.
The rich oil extracted from the Macadamia nut contains very high quantities of oleic, palmitoleic, linoleic and linolenic acids and is one of many plant emollients that mimic the lipid content of the skin. It helps stabilize and maintain the structure of the skin's complex inter-cellular matrix, preventing moisture loss and cell damage, and promoting skin's soft, smooth, healthy appearance.
