The Linden, or Lime Tree, is a large tree whose flowers are so fragrant that, when in bloom, Linden Trees have been known to perfume an entire neighborhood.
Linden flower tea was used in the middle ages as a drug to promote perspiration and as a stimulant. They were once thought to be able to cure epilepsy if the patient sat under the Linden tree!
The chemical composition of Linden flower essential oil gives it a soothing-relaxant aromatherapy profile, while the extract from Linden's leaves and flowers contain protective anti-inflammatory compounds, as well as quercetin (an excellent antioxidant), astringent tannins and soothing mucilage.
