Argania spinosa
              ARGAN
The fruit of the Argan tree, a thorny tropical native of Morocco, yields a nutritious oil that was traditionally used as a food and a cosmetic.
Rich in lignans and highly beneficial plant sterols that are believed to be unique to this plant, Argan has become a valuable skin care ingredient, particularly in the treatment of seborroea and acne.
In the past, Argan has been a highly valued medicinal plant used by North African natives. A 2009 pharmaceutical study revealed that Argan does appear to possess anti-malarial activity, as well as cytotoxicity to breast cancer cells. In addition, the study showed Argan possesses antioxidant activity.
In cosmetic use, Argan has a regulating effect on sebaceous glands, making it particularly beneficial for oily and imbalanced skin. In addition, it is highly rejuvenating and helps prevent irritation, making it a valuable skin care ingredient.
