Tea tree essential oil is considered one of the most medicinal of all the plant oils. This wonderful healing oil is distilled from the young tips of Melaleuca alternifolia shrubs grown in Australia. It possesses powerful antimicrobial activity against all three infectious organisms: Bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Direct application of diluted tea tree essential oil can help heal cuts, skin and nail infections, wounds and insect bites. It also promotes healing of acne, cold sores and boils, and is a powerful alternative healing treatment for fungal infections such as ringworm and tinea (athlete's foot).

To support healing and ease the symptoms of colds and flu, apply a few drops of tea tree essential oil to a handkerchief and directly inhale, or use in a head clearing steam inhalation treatment.
